Dissidents aren't tolerated in countries led by dictators. They're murdered/vanish/imprisoned. Could you live in such a country? How?

Dictators do not fancy being ignored/disregarded/challenged/rebuked/rejected/ridiculed. They silence those who dare speak out against them. They intimidate. They threaten. They act swiftly and without conscience. They will not be denied. If you want to survive you shut up completely or parrot the partyline. How could a life like be worthy living?
