    I am guessing they stopped at what is called "the first level of inference."  For an evangelical, the Bible is the highest authority for what they believe.  

    Trump came across as believing in biblical principles.   Unfortunately, he apparently thinks they are only for everybody else.  Evangelicals didn't assess him properly at the time.
