Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» THOUSANDS of ANTI-PUTIN protesters riot in Russia! Is this what ANTI-THE DONALD faces in the USA? Handwriting on the wall hey hey hey?
Isn't it OBVIOUS? They HATE Putin Shar. Why do we protest Doofus Donny? There is no love lost there. We want him GONE. So too do the Russian protesters want their albatross PUTIN gone. Do you deny them the right to show their displeasure? Good golly miss molly WHY?
I just want to know what their beef is. I am not in Russia. I loathe that Putin. But what else can you expect from EX-KGB?
Isn't that akin to EX-NAZI? Ex-Fascist? How about someone who won't let Jehova's Witnesses practice a religion? Yes, Rosie, I get it, but what are they pissed off about in particular? My hates may not be the same as theirs. What DO we NOT know? That is what I meant?
Moscow (CNN)The thousands of Russians who took to the streets over the weekend may not have vented their fury directly at Vladimir Putin, but the President certainly took note of the message. After the largest mass demonstrations in years, when crowds across the country took part in anti-corruption rallies, the Interior Ministry has warned that it will use the full extent of its powers to confront any future unauthorized gatherings. Check out that last sentence, Rosie. I can see Trump copying this move and doing the same thing in the USA. UNAUTHORIZED GATHERINGS? WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ASSEMBLE IN RUSSIA UNLESS PUTIN GRANTS PERMISSION????
But the warning has not impressed nor deterred a younger generation of protesters who are fed up with rampant nepotism, exasperated by the lack of accountability, and stifled by the lack of opportunities on offer in Russia today.
Their grievances are directed less at Putin himself than at a system that has institutionalized graft and accelerated inequality. In some ways they are reminiscent of the frustration of younger, educated Arabs in Cairo and Tunis in 2011, but it is unclear if Russia's anti-corruption movement can effect real change. 'Tired of living below the poverty line'
In Moscow, where the largest of dozens of protests took place, at least 500 people were detained -- carried and frog-marched into police vehicles. The authorities had warned that the rally, called by opposition leader Alexey Navalny, was against the law. A young geologist called Sergey Pravov was among those arrested. "We started singing the national anthem," he told CNN. He added with a smile: "We just got to the 'free country' part, when we were taken by the police and thrown into the bus." He told CNN that young people had taken part because they "are tired of the impunity of officials and their children and relatives who can get away with anything. " "They are tired of living below the poverty line while people they pay to rule wisely are swimming in gold," Pravov says.

Perhaps the fact that Putin has caused his opponets to be murdered? Journalists, political opponents? Perhaps because he has killed Russian citizens during his "war" to get Crimea back in the fold and is going all out to reclaim the SOVIET UNION as it used to be slowly by slowly? Perhaps because he and the other Russian oligarchs have stolen money and are all obscenely wealthy as they shift money to other countries to launder it by buying real estate? Trump is being investigated for that very thing. Money laundering. That is being investigated by the criminal units of the various Intelligence Agencies. Citizens want to be PROUD of their leaders. Putin has done nothing to make Russian citizens feel proud..only embarrassed/ashamed/angry/afraid. Perhaps because they want to be part of the world and not be cut off from it as Putin is wont to do. They like NATO, like the European Union and it is clear that Putin wants all of that destroyed. Perhaps because they dare not speak out without drastic repercussions? Perhaps because he hacks other countries' computers to control/realign/shift/manipulate elections? That is criminal activity and I doubt they like the fact that Putin is a thug who engages in criminal enterprises. I don't know Shar. I don't personally know anyone who is Russian. I just read/watch/listen to try to keep up with what's going on in the world and what it is ALLEGED that Putin has done, is doing, will do. I forget how many people have either been murdered/poisoned but survived or disappeared without a trace since PUtin took over. All anti-Putin peeps. I think it is something like 16 or 18. However I doubt that anything I say will satisfy you however so I'm done.
