Is is said that "cleanliness is close to Godliness" . What about kindliness/truthiness/goodliness? Do they matter at all?

  • I think it goes: "cleanliness is next to Godliness". Which means I think, that it can be grouped with the other attributes you've mentioned as being traits of a Godly person, without indicating that any of the aforementioned traits elevates us in relationship to God or some form of holiness. They matter in our interpersonal relationships, but have no value in moving us into favor with God.
