Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle = the more precisely the position of a sub-atomic particle is determined, the less precisely its momentum can be known, and vice versa. This can be determined by a number of different mathematical formula, but there is no formula that can fix both position and momentum.
Because of this single law of physics, randomness does actually exist.
An astonishing exception to this principle is that the thought of a researcher can influence the behaviour of a single sub-atomic particle. The implications of this are significant - but no one has yet been able to make use of it - which might be a very good thing.
Because we are unable to influence the random behaviour of many kinds of sub-atomic particles, we are subject to the effects of randomness.
At the Newtonian level of physics, that of this everyday world, most of the time, most of what we think is random is easily explained if we have enough information. Sometimes an effect comes out of a linear chain of events. Sometimes it comes from a matrix of many influences. And sometimes both.
