January 17, 1961 President Dwight D. Eisenhower gave his farewell address to the nation. It was prescient. Why didn't we pay attention?

He said he was gravely concerned about the "acquisition of unwarranted influence by the military-industrial complex". He warned us way back then that this new military-industrial complex could weaken or destroy the very institutions and principles it was designed to protect. Are we there yet?
