Which watch brands do you think are costliest overall?

I am working on Edition 6 of a book titled "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS". I write and illustrate my books including designing the covers. In Edition 1, the costliest brands were 1. Breguet, 2. Patek Philippe, 3. Vacheron Constantin, 4. Audemars Piguet, 5. Blancpain ...etc.

It depends. The margin of value increases with age. You may enjoy this:

  • I own an 1893 Patek Philippe, a 1902 Vacheron Constantin and a 1915 IWC, plus other from the 1930s, 40, 50s and 70s.

I shop at walmart...they don't have expensive brands. I'll bet my Timex keeps the same time as your pattek phillippe.

  • The Timex would not be keeping time as accurately as a new watch if it had been made in 1893. My 1893, 1926 and 1994 Patek Philippe watches all are as accurate as new watches. If I placed my 1893 one in an auction, I would ask for a minimum of $100,000. In 2016, Patek's price range for men's production wriistwatches was $26,800 to $1,100,000. The Patek "Graves Supercomplication" completed in 1932 sold for $24,000,000 at an auction  in 2014.

  • I think Richard Mille has a strong lead for the title Costliest Watch Brand. His cheapest watch recently cost $100,000, and others are much costlier, up to $1,800,000. Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Greubel Forsey, Audemars Piguet and Francois-Paul Journe are rivals but not close ones.
