Governors are not beholden to a political party or a president. They are beholden to the residents of their states. Isn't that the point?

Why is any pol beholden to a political party or a political ideology or a president if that beholdeness goes against the wishes of their constituents? Are they that weak, wimpy, scairdy cat impotent that they turn their backs on the folks who got them there and suck up to the prevailing winds as manifested by a president and a massively toady Senate and Congress? Because?

All Governors are created equal.  But some Governors are more equal than others.

Because you have a party system of Government (Basically 2 party) and the Governors are party members. Perhaps you should push for the USA to change to a Consensus Government...   Never can tell, the people may agree with you .  Have a good day. :)   You have to type the following link in, this thing never works when I try to do this.

Most Governors are against medicaid cuts and don't want Repeal and Replace of the AHCA. The Republican party is currently going to go through its zillionist attempt to repeal and replace. What a disgrace! Also some states are legislating Sanctuary Cities against the wishes of the  GOP. They don't give a rat's a** if Trumpdum withholds federal money for doing so.  They don't give a rat's a** what he does. They just ignore him and carry on as best they can. Some Governors are ignoring the environmental budget slashes and continuing on with trying to live green. Governors as a whole ignore the feds and do what is best for their constituents. Not all of them of course. But enough of them to notice and applaud. Thank you for your reply Maurice and Happy First Day of Autumn Friday in the USA! :)
