The Constitution gives us the right to peaceably assemble. Why should anyone be fired for doing so?

"....the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievance". Part of the First Amendment. The prez says to fire the sons of bit**es who disrespected the flag. Now how does that square with our First Amendment right to protest what we think is an injustice? How is  kneeling down harming anyone? Is that right being quashed so that The United States of America  will be like every other dictatorship let by a Despot? What happens when YOU want to protest something? In other countries you speak out against the government and you can disappear, be murdered, be imprisoned. If any owner FIRES an employee for engaging in peaceful protest doesn't that go against our Constitutional rights? Where would it end if that were OK?  I don't get what the players did that was so horrendous. They did not burn down anything. They did not break windows or riot or steal anything. They simply silently showed their protest against a court decision which they thought was wrong. I don't get it.

You forgot the first part: "Congress shall make no law...."

As an employer I am no required to allow my employees to protest on my time.
