Alabama Banjos play through the broken glass windows, See the old folks tied in white robes Hear the banjo Don't it take you down home?

Oh, Alabama
Banjos playing through the broken glass
Windows
down in Alabama

See the old folks tied in white robes
Hear the banjo
Don't it take you down home?

In his 2012 autobiography Waging Heavy Peace, Neil Young said of this song, "I don't like my words when I listen to it today. They are accusatory and condescending, not fully thought out, and too easy to misconstrue."

I know he's a fan of Sweet Home Alabama. And it's a nice piece of musical history; that Neil inspired Skynyrd to write it.

Lynyrd knew Neil was misguided before Neil did.  I like both songs actually.  Neil has a memorable voice that I like.
