Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» One of the main changes since The Donald John took over is that racists have been normalized and are no longer abhorrent. Good, right?
Can you think of any other argument than "fake news?" Did you not see the videos of people with torches screaming racial epithets? I think your tin foil hat is too tight.
Those people who Trump and said were bad people. Nazi=bad people..no one disagrees. David Duke who Trump disavowed over and over and over. Now people are claiming the uproar over the NFL kneeling during the National Anthem is racist.....whatever.
Why did it take Trump so long to say that Nazis were bad people? Then he went back to his original statement that there were good people protesting. Nazis are not good people, white supremacists are not good people, clan members are not good people and if you're walking with people like that, you aren't a good person either.
He said it the same day. He some were good people (there would have been some people there to protect the history of statues...granted if they were smart they would have got out when they seen the racist nuts there also) He said Antifa was a bad group too. They are.

He did denounce them. Yes he said there were bad people on both sides....geuss what there were. There were crazies on the right (Kkk, Nazis etc) AND crazies on the left. (Antifa) And yes there were some good people who got caught in the middle. There to protest. Yes, a smart person would have seen the crazies there and got the heck out of dodge.
To whom are they no longer abhorrent? Nobody I or most of us know.
Rosie, you really should try not to make stuff up or believe everything you hear on MSNBC just because it sounds like good hyperbole. Your questions might then be somewhat, you know, credible.
Those of us who found their behavior abhorrent before still find it abhorrent now. I think the main difference is that those who are filled with hate are less afraid to show it and are coming out in droves. But, at the same time, there are highly-polarized groups on the other side becoming more known. For example, antifa (anti-fascist) groups descended upon Charlottesville when all that nonsense was going on. They literally came in from all corners of the country to butt heads with the KKK and other groups- and many were prepared to meet violence with violence if "need be." Another anti-racism group just did a march from Charlotesville to DC.
Regardless of how many white supremacy or hate groups are becoming vocal, there are just as many anti-hate groups demonstrating, counter-protesting, and calling people to action. If you can't see the good things happening and all the people who are standing up against intolerance, I don't know what to tell you, other than you're clearly missing half the story.
racism is not anymore normalized now thatn it was 12 months ago and in historical perspective is far less normalized than iit ever was. You and others saying otherwise are reaching to self-fullfill a scenario to create a nemesis fuel and direct outrage energy at. It's similar to the old neo-con tactic used to create warhawk mentalities.
