Discussion»Questions»Jobs» Ever been fired and have the firer immediately apologize and ask you to please stay? Happened to me, I left. What would you do?
You are a gesticulator then m'dear? I gesticulate verbally but at that moment the great pleasure I got out of seeing him grovel was enough for me. I never looked back. I never regretted it. I always did better when I moved on. Luck played a great part in that as well as timing. I had no control over either one. Thank you for your reply Ele! :)
It is embarrassingly satisfying to me when people do that Ele. I'm only sharing that with you. It isn't something of which I'm particularly proud. I enjoy gloating! That's mostly Bad Rosie though. Sometimes I cannot control her! :(

You are more subtle than I. I'm more an "in-your-face" kinda gal. I appreciate the restraint your method would embody. However sometimes sarcastic/smug goes right over their heads. Too nuanced. But gloating while simultaneously saying "I told you so"? Nothing like it! Trust me! :)
Author Robert Heinlein said this in his novel 'Time Enough for Love': "When the fox gnaws...smile." Probably my favorite quote. It makes those who try to berate me uncomfortable as they do not know what I am thinking. The smile has to be just so. I have many years of practice.
But if it goes unnoticed? If "they" are not able to understand what your "just so" smile implies? You can't always know if they get it. Is that smile enough for you since you know what it means? It frustrates me when people seem to be so dam *ed obtuse. I don't know if they are being so purposely. Even when I get smacked back I want to know I made my point. That it registered. Sometimes I play with metaphors just because they occur to me and that really is the basis of all the questions I ask. They occur to me. I dunno. I'd have to see that smile Ele. It could go right over my head! AARRGGHH! :(

I wouldn't call them "simple" Ele although you ARE a guy and I'm not so I guess you would know better than I. I think men are more logical, straightforward, direct. That's how I have experienced them. It is a much more comfy environment for me than being in snarky snarly sarcastic competitive arena. Men are rarely like that. Which is why I prefer them as a gender. I had a son. Worked out really well! If I had had a daughter I'd probably like her..maybe even love her..but would I understand her or pal around with her or get along with her? I dunno. I'm not yer typical dame. I think men are less likely to have ulterior motives or specific agendas. Now of course there are always exceptions and devious comes in a variety of forms. But in general that has been my experience and I can only go by that. Thank you for your repy and Happy Sunday! :) I never was a fan of going out with the girls. I'd rather be at home with my guy! So sue me! :)
