Have you ever picked wild mushrooms for food? I'm going puffball hunting next year.

Actually they grow in a neighbor's yard.

Yes I have!  Over the years, I've found a number of mushrooms and wild plants on my property that make for good eatin'.

The only edible wild plants we get in my yard are (only a few) Dandelions and purslane. There are a few in the neighborhood that have puffballs, but they don't know they are edible.

I have dandelion & purslane too. My property was part of an old farm so I have a mixture of wild and planted stuff.  Anything you can think of that grows in New England, I pretty much have.  The mushrooms are the biggest plus.  I've even found Bear's Head Tooth mushrooms.  I'm constantly poking around and foraging when ever I'm outside.
