Yes. But people here at the office see me as aloof because I try to be businesslike and efficient rather than complain and dish the dirt and hash over pop culture and the latest trends with them.
At work I think being professional is ALWAYS best. When I worked I was cordial but I did not invite gossip. I did not invite small talk. I always had tons of work to do and when my door was closed NO ONE bothered me. It meant I was not available unless it was an emergency. You have to respect boundaries. Everyone is getting paid to do the job for which he/she was hired. It can be done in a cordial way without going overboard. Did I ever have good friends at work? Yes. But they always respected the way I worked. At work was one thing. Outside of work was entirely different. We owed it to our employer to do the best job we could.
