The wealthy will always do what's best for themselves and (secondly) their "friends".   Everyone knows that the wealthy don't need health care (they're indestructible .. just ask them).  However, on the off chance they ever do get a 'problem', they simply pay cash to the finest medical doctor/facility in existence.  To the wealthy, other people are annoyances; deadbeats who only want to take what they have.  Should the wealthy simply "give" these scum healthcare?  Heaven forbid!  But if they take away healthcare, perhaps many of those freeloaders will "go away" as well.  Should the wealthy give tax cuts to the poor while they pay more?  There's a better chance of a snowball freezing in hell!  The wealthy love their money, and they don't want anything coming between them and it.  "PAY"???  Perish the thought!  They spent good money bribing officials/politicians so that they can keep all that they have - and get much, much more in return.

Yet what the wealthy fail to realize is that they NEED the so-called "scum" of the world to keep them in power.  If they pay their workers decent wages, they'd have more productive employees, which makes for happier customers, which results in  higher profits for them.  But instead of helping others with their wealth (and I'm NOT talking about charity or charitable donations here) they hoard it.  They hide it in the sand (offshore accounts?).  They spend millions on security so that no one else can get what they have.

The wealthy say - "Healthcare?  A waste of money!  Tax cuts?  Only if they help me!"

(all the while the poor continue to grow in numbers. ... And there's strength in numbers.)

Another very fine though depressing as he** analysis in response to my question shuhak. I wouldn't change a word of it. It is very eloquent, very true and will never change. This analysis is one for the ages. It is a classic. It is a good fit for any time and any place because the human race is hopeless and rigid and inflexible. That is to say the powerful/wealthy movers and shakers "KNOW" they are already perfect and need no improvement so they will never change. Those they oppress and insult and harm will likewise never change. So we are stuck. SIGH.  :(
