CENSORSHIP! An awesome power to silence people when you don't approve of or agree with what is being said. If you had that power how would YOU use it? Would you ABUSE it for political reasons? Why?

Does our government? Yes. All the time. They do it to our churches everyday. Telling our pastors they can not talk about politics from the pulpit. This law was passed by LBJ so the churches could not oppose him in his bid for president. Many do it now with political discussions, if you don't agree with they call racism, bigotry etc.

That sounds defensive m2c.  I have been told that talking about the problem of racism makes me a racist which  is patently absurd/ridiculous. Of course it is always the Republicans/Conservatives who say I'm racist. I wonder why that is?. I don't know where you stand on that issue racism is  a problem and if we can't discuss it how will we be able solve it? Maybe we will never solve it. Maybe some people's DNA is imbued with racist/bigoted/misogynistic hate. I don't know about that. Thank you for your reply.

I wouldn't use it at all.

I don't wish to silence anyone. I can choose what I pay attention to and what I ignore. Others are free to do the same.

I'd use it whenever someone chewed loud enough for me to hear them.

There are several who that is their go to defense...that is racist...your talking in hidden code racist words.
Personally I agree we can not solve a problem if we can't even discuss it.

 I don't argue sweetie. But I LOVE to engage in conversations with those who are polite, knowledgeable and passionate about  life!  I used to enjoy the conflict that comes from arguing. I don't any more.  When I "argue" I simply present my case. Just as lawyers "argue" their cases in court. Present their arguments pro or con. Some folks think argue means to attack. I have read some of your threads and all I see in them is presenting your case as any lawyer would do. I can't remember seeing a thread where you argued in its worst sense. Honestly I would love to silence Trump, censor him,...theoretically and figuratively. Because he just keeps throwing so much sh** in the world which is already filled with it. I learned a bit about code words awhile back on Answermug. I used the word "thug" meaning a bad guy. I later learned that is a code word for African Americans in some negative context. When did that happen? I have no idea but it is disconcerting to say something using words that mean one thing to me and something else to others and not even know it. I would LOVE to silence ALL racists/bigots/misogynists/hatemongers. Their words assault the ears and insult the senses. But it is the only way we can know what kind of people they are so I guess it's a fair tradeoff. Thank you for your reply B and Happy Tuesday to thee! :)
