What's the scariest place you've ever been? Why were you there, how long did you stay? Ever go back again?

The Center of my Mind on LSD.

I was young and experimenting with looking for answers in all the wrong places.

I have had some of the most profound and the most terrifying experiences on that drug.

I don't ever want to feel like I did when I was that scared ever again.   I prefer meditation to being forced to a place I was searching for and being carried there by a chemical concoction that felt like I was behind the wheel of a race car going way too fast for my steering ability.

Oh my goodness Sharon. Doesn't LSD damage the brain? Any lasting after-effects from doing that? That sounds terrifying as he** to me. Thank you for your reply and the graphic and Happy  Sunday. OS arrived safely around 5:30 pm. FYI!

  • At the last day of the West-Indian Festival in London.
Went because it's such a joyous carnival with great music, dance and pageantry - and it was just that, wonderful.
But in the last hour a kind of frenetic mania swept through the crowd. Perhaps a critical percentage had become overtired and cranky, or perhaps taken some weird drugs. It started to turn violent. My frind and I left as fast as wee could. The next day on the news, four people had died in violence and a stampede.
Since then I mostly avoid crowds, and if I have to be near or in one, I take great care to constantly monitor the mood.

Wow! I don't like crowds and try to avoid being near them. If I MUST for whatever reason be in one I am always near an exit if the crowd is contained in a room or auditorium or wherever,  away from the middle. Years ago we were in Denver visiting my son when he lived there and we were out and about and went into a HUGE candy store. Multiple rooms, infinite delights. EXCEPT that throngs of people were already inside and it was so unnerving I had to leave. I might have lasted for 5 minutes. I went outside and sat on a bench trying to recover from it. I'm serious. I guess it's claustrophobia or something. So Jim and my son and his fiance stayed awhile inside and then came out and we resumed our meandering. AARRGGHH! Close call. Oh and also once upon a time years ago we went on a home tour visiting the "Craftsman" style of home. In one home once again shoulder-to-shoulder crowded. Out I went and stood on the lawn for a few minutes until Jim came out. It's like I can't breathe and I get panicky! So I totally understand. Thank you for your reply Hartfire. Betcha never went back there again. I would NEVER visit New Orleans when they have those festivals with fancy costumes..Mardi Gras especially scares me. Folks get drunk and high drugs and probably do lotsa voodoo! :(
