I doubt if Russia and China could ever be real allies. I think the best they could ever achieve is temporary diplomatic peace for the sake of trade. They share too many interests in the mineral wealth of the tundras and maritime naval control, which makes them serious rivals. Their styles of "communism" (ie capitalist tyranny) are incompatible. And they have competing and differing trade and political relationships with the other nations of the world.

I heard something yesterday (or possibly misheard) that Russia and China were of the same mind when it comes to interfering with how other dictators rule (Syria for example) and it sounded as if that put them squarely at odds with the US. Both countries are led by men with an iron hand and so they support those like themselves and don't support interference. Russia is doing whatever the he** it wants to in Crimea, Ukraine and any other area Putin covets. China built little islands or something in the Pacific to do what with? Who knows? Also apparently America supplied the Ukraine with weapons recently and that Russia is majorly ticked off about it. SIGH. It's hard to keep up with who loves whom and for how long? America can't have it both ways. We cannot expect to go it alone doing whatever the he** we feel like doing and expect other nations to roll over, comply, follow our lead. That is unreasonable, illogical and naive. It is also dangerously bat-sh** crazy! Thank you for your reply Hartfire! :).
