I think most normal kids try to and want to please their parents. They want their parents to be proud of them and like them as well as love them. When you grow up you outgrow that need somewhat but not entirely. What about your need to have your children be proud of you? Is that as strong within you or stronger? After all isn't how your children feel about you and speak of you a report card on what kind of parent(w) you've been? It's always wanting someone's approval isn't it? Old, young, peers. Never-ending. Think it is achievable?
