I'm OK, Rosie, thanks for asking.  I live in an outer borough, but our main streets are cleared as are most of the sidewalks.  It is a mess, though.  My office was closed yesterday and open today, but I don't work Fridays an Mondays, so I'm good until I go back to work on Tuesday.  Worse than the snow is the 9 degree temperature with a -9 wind chill factor.  It's also windy as all get-out, so I'm hunkered down today.  Hopefully, it will get a little warmer and I'll venture out to the supermarket to replenish my stock.   Happy Friday. :)

Geez Spunky why not come out here? Our weather yesterday was 77. Here's the forecast for the next 8 days.. starting with today. 74, 75, 67(rain), 53(rain), 62,73,77,78. I'm not listing that to brag or anything but to entice you to just think about moving here m'dear. As you well know we are a VERY BLUE state and our guv is thumbing his nose at the donjohn for his destroying EPA protections. I know New York is a blue state too but the weather is just kinda dicier there. I lived in Massachusetts for 5 years and loved it Mostly. Especially the autumn foliage. BUT I do not miss  black ice or n'oreasters or slipping and falling or the greyish ick of melting snow in February or the salting of the ice to get it to melt faster thereby making the undercarriage of cars rusty. Also they sprayed for bugs in summer and I didn't like that. I do miss  the people and some of the beautiful breathtaking historical places. I guess life is always a trade-off of one thing for another. Anyway glad you're okay. I remember when my son was an infant (he was born at the Emerson hospital in west Concord) and it was freezing I had to wrap a wool scarf around his face to warm the temp a bit of the air that he had to breathe. Long ago t'is true but a very clear memory! Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday!  :)

Good Tuesday morning Spunky. We are finally getting the much-needed rain we were promised. Today's high will be 58 but it will be warming up to 80 by Saturday. Good Tuesday morning to you. :)  Yes, you're getting the rain you need, but I see that in the area where the Thomas fire raged is now suffering with mudslides that have caused several deaths.  Feast or famine - I'm not sure which is worse.  It warmed up a bit in NY - yesterday it was in the mid-40s and it felt like Spring!

The headlines yesterday morning said that 13 people died due to the mudslides. I was afraid of that. Now all we need is an big earthquake! Just joking. Not a very good joke at that. Today's high here in Hemet will be 74 . Here's the forecast  starting today. 74, 77, 78 , 77,77,75.74.72! Pretty good weather for January! No more rain predicted right away but we got a real soaking yesterday. Thank you for your reply Spunky and Happy Thursday! :)

It's up to 17 now. I know Oprah has a home in Montecito and the actor Rob Lowe is her neighbor. It is a very beautiful area of Santa Barbara. I hope their homes are okay. As Gilda Radner said so eloquently when her cancer came back years ago..."if it isn't one thing it's another". Thank you for your reply Spunky and for caring. I appreciate it!  :( ((hugs))

It appears that Ellen DeGeneres is also affected by the mudslides.  I suspect there will be even more deaths attributed to this event.

There is always an "AFTER" the after. After all the fires are out that we get yearly in California you just wait for the rains to come because you know it will be another disaster after the after. There is no preventing it. When all the ground is soaked and there is no vegetation to hold anything down and the rains keep coming and you are on high ground gravity takes over and you can't stop it. Last I heard they were still digging in the mud hoping to find people in Montecito. I think 8 were missing. SIGH. What next? You know Spunky between Mother Nature and the racist donjohn we can't get a break!  :(

I see that but I don't recall CA having as many widespread fires as this year.  So many acres of land burned to a crisp, the loss of life and the cost of rebuilding.
