Does state-of-the art ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY always live up to its advertising or seldom? Are you the kinda person that buys it no matter what?

  • I can think of numerous instances when it doesn't.
The National Broadband roll-out of fibre-optic cable in Australia is proving in 40% of cases to deliver less than half the speed it promised.
Volkswagon was producing computer-controlled car engines that did not save fuel as advertised, until it got caught.
Nokia produced a run of mobile phones with batteries that over-heated and exploded.
Mac produced a program that would slow its mobile phones down without informing the customers.
The Mac OS Sierra does not provide diacritics, and has made no effort to correct the oversight.
I imagine there are many hundreds or thousands of examples.

But what bugs me the most is how dfifficult, time wasting, and costly they make it to get help when you need it.
It's enough to justify a cynical person in believing that their evasiveness is deliberate.
If I had the money, I'd embarass them into realising their social obligations under the law.

Truth in advertising is a joke isn't it Hartfire? Misleading claims that people accept at face value as being true only to discover once again they've been had! Those who have stuff to sell will tell you whatever they think you need to hear in order to buy it. I wonder how much honor/integrity/good faith business owners have? How many of them will "spin" the truth to sell you something and never wince or think twice about it? Thank you for your thoughtful and informative reply. Giving specific examples is always most helpful to me m'dear! :)
