Without wondering WHAT IF there would be no inventions or creativity or imagination or progress. There would just be the dullness of what is forever after. A world where you DARE NOT verbalize any WHAT IF because it is offensive to someone. A world were one plus one always equals two and dare not equal anything else ever. That world would absolutely appeal to the grey people who don't want to make any waves, upset any applecarts, antagonize anyone at any time for any reason. A world where silence reigns and boredom is the soup du jour. Such a world is possible. Censor/censure everything that doesn't fit the template. That's all it takes. SIGH. :(
