It depends on who it is. If it's a family member or close friend, I don't see a problem with it. I always send food home with people if there is a lot left over.
I'm with the general consensus. It depends on the dinner party you're attending, the other guests, and the container you planning you plan on taking them home in. If you attending a party where they are serving on china and real silver, asking for left overs would seem weird. You wouldn't send your china and silver out the door if you are never going to see the person again. If it is your family and friends, heck ya! EAT UP!!

I dunno...guess I'm not hoity-toity enough for dinner parties. I'm more of the grilling out and "J'eet jet?" type. ;)

Me too Bozette :) But, I've been to many where the other applies too. I'll take a grill out over the other any day. I ALWAYS send people home with left overs. Lord knows I want them to eat! I didn't make it to sit in my fridge and rot!! I am totally with you!!
I never learned how to cook for just two people, so I always used to have a pot of something on the stove, our employees would beeline to the pot after work. Everyone's always offered leftovers, but nothing really goes to waste...Friday = scraps night, and the pups take care of whatever is left. :)
All of our parties are family and we always send everyone home with whatever they would like. Just like you...I could not eat the same thing for three days.
