Instead of just inheriting the job of prez Pence would have to fight for it and the people would have to CHOOSE him via the usual election though it would be a SPECIAL election. We the people wouldn't just sit there quietly and have to accept it or him. I KNOW what the Constitution says. That is precisely why this is a WHAT IF question.
