What would cause someone (John Kelly) who allegedly worked all his adult life to protect his country to turn on it?

I'd never heard of the guy before donjohn brought him aboard. He allegedly has had a very distinguished career in the military. He is a General for goodness sake! So you think he was just waiting for a donjohn to come into his life whom he could manipulate (along with that Stephen guy) to do his bidding?  A closet extreme right-wing racist who saw his chance to declare himself and has? Same thing with General Mike Flynn. I sure don't get it tom. Arrogance and venality freed at last? Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday. Dismayed am I to say the least! SIGH.
