He apparently really believes we the people are that stupid. He thinks everyone is stupid but the donjohn and sad thing is his worshippers believe him. They don't mind that he thinks they are stupid. They "KNOW" he loves them so that makes everything okay with them. Truth is he only loves himself but they don't see him that way. He is too perfect in their eyes to be selfish or greedy or dishonest or harmful to anyone. I expect that's what they believe.
