The Russkies used YouTube, Facebook,Instagram and Twitter to fake out gullible Americans. Why were there so many of them?

The Russkies called it "The Translator Project" and by July 2016 there were 80 of their operatives assigned to the project. They were engaging in INFORMATION WARFARE against the United States and having great success!  :(
