How do words get to be used in nonsense phrases that folks repeat as if they make sense? If you're drowning and you reach for a straw aren't you crazy?  Sure you're desperate but a straw? As for the camel if it's a regular straw one more ain't gonna matter unless the straw is made of metal and VERY HEAVY. So you are DESPERATE to find a solution. Why not say so?  So you mean that you're fed up and you won't take it any more.  Why not say so?
