Guns are just the symptom of a greater threat. The person wants to maim, kill, destroy. Not the gun. The gun just sits there.
However, that does not give license (no pun) to have guns just at anyone's disposal. They should be very hard to purchase. The person buying a gun should have a nice fat background check. They should be responsible FOR that gun until it is legally sold and documented.
We don't let people drive a dangerous weapon without a license, we need to be twice as strict with who is purchasing guns.
But, yes, I think that if there were no guns, the disturbed, would find another weapon.
We need to address the cause with more access to help for these deranged, unhappy people.
They are all part of that sick persona that just wants to kill. They will get it done in some fashion unless the signs they put out there are actually heeded. Boy did the suits mess up this time!
Apparently, bombs were used at Columbine---Harris dedicated a section of his website to posting content regarding his and Klebold's progress in their collection of guns and building of bombs (they subsequently used both in attacking students at their school). After the website was made public, AOL permanently deleted it from its servers
They committed suicide by shooting themselves apparently, however.
I wonder if the ability to reach out and touch someone by shooting them fulfills a need in a "typical" school shooter---in which case bombs would not be so satisfying by themselves.
