The only way the "listening" could have mattered would be for the "listeners" to have experienced what the kids exerienced. Waste time?

The kids lost family members and friends. They experienced TERROR thinking they'd be killed. Which of the LISTENERS accompanying the donjohn has faced any of that? They are clueless, ignorant, dumb. They listen and the don't hear a word. Wasted time. Worthless. Valueless. AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN.
