Are there about 25,000 polar bears left in the world?

    I have seen estimates from 20,000 to 32,000.

    I googled it and found this:

    So it seems your number is pretty much right.

    For comparison I also looked up the nr on African elephants, Africa now has 352,271 savanna elephants. And found that is despite the heavy poaching there are over 10 times as many of them.
