Anything can be addictive if it fills the void of terror and anxiety experienced without the addiction.

So, you can cut your arms till they bleed.   You can vomit.  Those are addictions of the MOST dysfunctional kind.  You can SERIAL KILL.  How's that for an addiciton?  But it IS.  Ask Ted Bundy.  It was an overwhelming addiction he could not control.  It all stems from the emotional body.   He must have caused so much pain in a prior lifetime, or lifetimes that this is his fate this time.

He must act out.  He must be totally out of control.  He must watch himself get caught no matter how intelligent he is.  That was Bundy's addiction and fate.

But back to sanity.   An addiction can be food, exercise, you name it.  It can be healthy or not.  But what it does, and what all addictions have in common:  You are compelled to do them because it fills a void.  It fills a need that is so demanding, that you will leave a comfort zone to appease  the need.  If you are a food addict, you will make sure you have money for food.  Or whatever you do to get food.

If you are an alkie, same thing.  You must do something to make yourself happy because something without it is making you think you are unhappy.

Cigarettes?  Now a chemical has taken over.  You are physically miserable and tie that body misery into how you feel.  Now you are hooked.

    I think I am overstating a point.

Cell phone addiction is rampant. I wonder what need it fills in empty lives? Thank you for your thoughtful reply Sharon! :) This post was edited by RosieG at March 8, 2018 8:14 AM MST
