Pure breed animals are highly prized and come with papers authenticating their blood lines. Purebreed/mutt. Why does it matter and to whom?

    It doesn't matter to me whether a dog (I'm a dog person) is a pure breed with papers or an adorable mutt.  In fact, sometimes I think the mutt lives longer and is healthier in the long run.  If I were to get a dog, I would make it a rescue.
