They're at odds with each other, not working together, and they've been out of office for 8 years, and it looks like it will turn into possibly 16 years of big brother welfare State, trillions of $$$ in Gov. grants / welfare / etc. No personal responsibility People are getting used to being taken care of by the Gov. and more of being controlled by the Gov. also. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the progressive liberal stance.
It was lost mid sixties when liberalism came a about.
No kidding.
I think that happened when winning was everything and lying was the way to go.
PROMISE people they will have it easier with doctors, lawyers and Indian Chiefs all taking their money and thinking for them. That was portrayed as luxury and now it is a necessity. But the politicians have little to do with what their promises even promise.
Blah blah blah hot air and we are too stupid to figure out any solution including getting rid of this dumb system of government we helped co-create with our laziness and willingness to just accept without thinking of outcomes.
You hit the nail on the head.
No, I don't think it ever existed.
In a country where most of the wealth creation over its history consisted of taking land by force, the labor of slaves by force, the exploitation of minimal-power workers (i.e. immigrants and ethnic minorities), the exploitation of trade barriers, the exploitation of monopoly power, the exploitation of the military-industrial complex and, finally, the exploitation of information asymmetry, the only people who have been held "personally responsible" for their conduct are those who lacked those advantages (or who exploited them so blatantly it became politically embarrassing).
In the main, "personal responsibilty" is trotted out by politicians or political parties as a way to deflect scrutiny from the systemic inequities which have been produced by history.
