The old are closer to death than the young. The old have most of their lives behind them. What else can you say about being OLD?

Of course there are exceptions. Old people can live to an ancient age. Triple digit oldsters are not rare. Young people can die of disease or gunfire or accidents. But generally speaking the older you are the closer you are to death. What else?
