I keep getting that a lot as well and I don't know why either.
Did you recently make a change to your Web browser or Anti-virus???
Thanks for your reply Karen.:)
Its annoying because I cant get on here at all sometimes. grrrrrr
Hopefully someone here can help us. :)
No I haven't. :/
Oh... what does that mean?
Thanks for your reply. :)
I had this once, I fixed it by changing the date on the calendar of the pc
I've got the answermug (Jug) on my tool bar.. so I don't have to write anything in the search bar.
The time and date on my laptop is correct...so is there something else I can do?
Do I need to change the time to US time?
I live in the uk.. so my computer tells me the date and time in uk time.
Thank you.
Ok.. thank you. :)
If your time is accurate where you are, it's fine.
What I'm trying to say is that sometimes our links are messed up. I was on my phone last night and had a devil of a time trying to duplicate it, but on my laptop, I just checked. The links should send you to http://answermug.com/ if it says https://answermug.com/, you'll get the following error in chrome:
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from answermug.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).
If you get the error you're getting, check your address bar and remove the "s." You'll be able to enter the site normally. You also have the option of hitting the "advanced" button and entering the site anyway.
You want a site to be https if you're sending sensitive data between your computer and the site, like bank account info or social security numbers. A site like AM doesn't involve that kind of data, so hackers aren't a real concern. Moreover, the type of hackers this protects you from are those who try to steal your data while it's in transmission. So, if you're sitting in a coffee shop, typing away on a site, and a hacker gets into the same network and somehow gains access to the data stream, he could swipe your financial info. But, we're not a financial site and we don't have any info, so if that same hacker managed to grab your transmission to AM, he'd move on to the next guy, who is trying to pay his bills while he sips his latte. To be clear, while AM does accept donations, we don't process it on our site. It's done on PayPal, which does have security in place.
For what it's worth, I believe I set the new site to run on https, but I don't have control over that here since the site is on a cloud-based program.
So, for whatever reason, sometimes the links that come in your emails will say https. I can't fix that. :/ If you send me a copy of the email, I will let the tech team know so they can fix it, though. Your browser also retains memory, so you may well have the site saved in your cookies as https, which would make it come up wrong every single time you try to come here. But, you can use the instructions I gave earlier and remove the "s" or you can manually key in the address and surf the site directly and you won't get the error. It's purely based on what's in your address bar- http vs. https.
Thanks for all that information JA.
The message I posted is what comes up when I try to log on here.. there is no email...I just copied and pasted it onto here.
Thanks again :)
I've told JA a few times about this. I still get the message too, whether using IE or Firefox.
Sure thing. :)
When said "our links" I meant the links that come via email as your notifications. If you're typing AM into your address bar and getting it, I would speculate you have https saved in your browser's cookies. Just make sure you override it by entering http instead or removing the "s" until your browser remembers which URL you want to go to.
Sorry... I have all my email notifications switched off... because I was getting so many.
I have found another way of getting on from the main page which seems to work.
I might also remove the mug from my tool bar and reload it incase I have https..and then I can change it. Thank you for your help JA... much appreciated. :)
JA has posted on the first page.. hopefully that will help you too. :)
I recommend that you change servers.
I've found a new way to get on this site now..
But thank you.
If it happens again..I shall do that. :)
