What is your favorite BREAKFAST pastry and your favorite DESSERT? Do you indulge often, rarely or never? Why ?

For me it is a Bear Claw for breakfast and a Chocolate Eclair for the otherwise. All custardy and choclaty. Yum. You?

Very very rarely I'll have a piece of apple pie but I don't make either at home.

I used to bake all the time but I rarely do now. I make banana walnut bran muffins with whole grain flour and we eat that. It isn't too sweet and we LOVE apricot jam so if we want to indulge we will add a teaspoon of it to the muffin. Thank you for your reply og and Happy Thursday to thee. I make that from scratch. I also bake cornbread but it is from a Package mix called Corn Kits. Hardly any sugar. Jim's mom used to make it and this mix is closest to the what his mom used to make. He doesn't like sweet cakey cornbread.  She died before Jim and I met so there was no way I could get her recipes! :(

I don't care for anything sweet in the morning, but I do like something sweet after lunch and dinner.  My favorite dessert is tiramisu.

Pretty tasty! Thank you for your reply L and Happy Thursday! :) Jim has the sweet tooth. I used to have a bigly one when I was a kid and dreamed of the day I would be a grown up and could eat all the sweets I wanted to eat! Irony that my taste buds changed. I dunno. I guess that's a good thing! :) This post was edited by RosieG at April 26, 2018 10:07 AM MDT

    I wish I didn't have such a sweet tooth.

I could crunch my weight through bags of salty crunchity things. Corn Curls, potato chips, corn chips (the white cheddar flavor is my favorite). Seriously. I like popcorn too and I think of all of them that is the healthiest choice. I also LOVE pickles. Half-sours so I can hear myself crunch. I like crunch a lot. Celery/carrots/jicama/radishes. Nuts and seeds too. Ironic isn't it?   I don't remember being all that fond of salty crunchy when I was young except I have always loved crunching ice cubes. Not good for  the teeth. It was sweets. See's candy specifically but any candy would do. That was then this is now although my favorite candy is dark chocolate-covered orange peal (not the jellied type..the real peal). Haven't had any for years. It isn't that easy to find. When I would buy some I would give it to Jim to hide and then dole it out to me. I'm not kidding thee! But gosh it's been quite a few years. Better not dwell on it! Thank you for your reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at April 27, 2018 9:13 AM MDT

I can do both sweet and salty, but I'm trying to limit both so I can be healthier.  I do love the dark chocolate orange peel - I believe Godiva may sell it, but I'm not sure.  I prefer dark chocolate, too - and I love any kind of nuts.  Why cant I ever have a craving for something really healthy?  I never "find myself thinking, "Boy, I'd kill for a stalk of broccoli."

I buy broccoli almost every week L. Years ago I was hooked on and obsessed with it and  bought and ate about 5 lbs a week! I love it raw and crunchy in salads or used  for dippers instead of chips. Steamed with salt/pepper/butter. Stir fry!  The only way you can ruin broccoli is over cook it until it is grey and mushy which is what my mom did. Our main food is veggies L. We often have all-veggie meals. Jim loves them. We do salad wraps often and eat veggie burgers and I stir fry all kinds of veggies. Whatever I am hungry for I cook and Jim miraculously has always been hungry for whatever I've fixed. A niftier guy you could not find on the planet! He has red wine daily and one or pieces of dark chocolate...72% cacao.  Also walnuts. Heart healthy and actually recommended by doctors because of the health benefits.   Thank you for your reply sweetie!  :)
