Why is looking out for the poor, the meek too POLITICAL but looking out for the wealthy isn't? Do the rich OWN God and His reps?

The clergy allegedly speak for God, on behalf of God and lecture the congregation on what God has to say per he Bible. But I do not recall where in the Bible God is a strong proponent of the powerful and the wealthy and rich and the greedy. He seems to favor the least among us in terms of wealth. How does anyone reconcile God's Words with what was used as an excuse to fire a Chaplain? He allegedly wasn't ministering to the "needs" of the House members. What needs are those exactly? Anyone have a reason for this disgusting display of politicizing religion? Anyone?
