Which memories do you most value? Those of long ago or the more recent ones? Are memories like cars? Some increase in value over time?

If you had to choose between old memories and making new ones could you? People who are no longer in your life today for whatever reason only exist back there so you would lose any memory of them. Would yor life be incredibly diminished  if that were to happen?
