Since the US is definitely in bed with Israel what makes it think it will ever be a trusted source to broker peace?

The US exacerbated the tense situation in the middle east. Did not mitigate/alleviate/cure. A development that was foreseen by the intelligent and either the don was unaware or didn't care. He got his way. Doesn't he always get his way?
