Does other people's joy annoy? Bigly, mediumly, littlely? Why?

When we see other people being joyous, sometimes we get jealous - especially if things aren't going well for us at the moment.  However, if we were to rejoice over the other person's joy (be happy that they're happy), we might find that our unhappiness isn't quite as bad as we thought it was.

I have never experienced being jealous or envious of anyone. I have never wanted to be someone else or begrudged a person having what he/she has. I have admired folks for being patient (which I am not) or kind (which I try to be but don't always succeed) or generally what we think of being a "good" person. There are traits in some I do not admire of course and I avoid engaging with them if possible. But jealousy/envy? I think it harms the person who feels such emotion far more than the target/object. It is a very damaging thing and why would anyone go out of his/her way to damage oneself? Makes no sense to me on any level. Thank you for your reply Shuhak.
