Seeing what isn't there and not seeing what is. Definitely hampers the ability to "KNOW" the truth. Some folks see very clearly what is and isn't. Others are perpetually getting it wrong. Do they need to visit opticians/ optometrists/ophthamologists or psychiatrists? Is it only their vision that is bollixed up or is it faulty brain wiring?
