In the long ago far away people wanted to know if something were true before they believed it. Truth is dead today. Think it rests in peace?

A truth is so potent it will resonate through the ages.  It does not depend on time, place, or circumstances.  Facts are simply happenings. When we were young we all believed and accepted basically the same things, with minor variations.  Now that has changed.  How can we accept as "truth" anything from people we know seek to destroy us, destroy our way of life, our country, and our beliefs?  People who refuse to even consider anything we say or write or have to offer no matter how well-reasoned but only seek to condemn, excoriate,  and name-call?

I am not the brightest person and certainly I have never been very political at all.  But when I see my country, its wonderful institutions, and so many of my cherished beliefs attacked and dismissed on here I feel at times called upon to explain them and defend them as succinctly and calmly and reasonably as I am able.  Which some people understand and appreciate. I can do  no better.   If people choose to ignore or dismiss or attack what I have written rather than consider it for whatever reason, I can only keep my own counsel.  They are entitled to their own opinions and beliefs and to express them in the way they see fit.   But when the gist of their opinions and beliefs is somehow that I don't deserve to live and enjoy my God-given freedom and responsibility in the way that I choose to but must only in the way they tell me to then I have a problem with them.  This post was edited by officegirl at June 15, 2018 6:38 AM MDT
