The Underground Railway was created to resist slavery. It was quite effective/successful. The French resistance worked against the Nazis and fought the collaborators among their own people as well.. Some died of course in patriotic defiance of the evil. There was another resistance in France centuries before when the peasants eyed the aristocracy as being evil oppressors and rose up against them. People are always the same. Oppressors oppress and the oppressed fight back...sometimes to the death. Human nature.
