Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» You read a story about children who are taken from their parents and never reunited. Tragedy or inspiring? Your cuppa tea or not?
Apologies JA. I have no idea to what you refer specifically. None. I expect I should but I don't. Wouldst thou entertain edifying me? Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday to thy (it rhymes)! :)
That's the storyline behind most Disney movies. The defining moment in the character's early life is almost always losing a parent, being taken from a parent, and so on. Everything from the Lion King through Snow White is that way.
The only Snow White I know is the girl who was awakened by a Prince and lived with some dwarfs. Is there a backstory showing she was an orphan? As for the Lion King I thought it was all about the circle of life. We all lose our parents JA unless we die before they do which is rare but it happens. The circle of life is about birth/life/death.It afflicts all living things, plants included. I am an orphan as is my sister. I lost my dad when I was 20 and my sister was 13. We lost our mom when we were middle-aged so we are orphans and have been for decades. Disney did not create that scenario. He just observed it and made use of it. The children torn from their parents' arms by King doofus don may never be reunited with their parents. They will be wholesaled into orphanages or passed out among Foster Parents. So they are/will be orphans. PUrposefully made so by an evil empire. You cannot escape it. Just look around you. You don't have to go to the movies and watch Disney fantasy to understand The Circle of Life. The first Disney orphan I recall was BAMBI. I was three when I saw that movie and it frightened me and I had nightmares about it. Thank you for reply. I guess we just don't see eye to eye. So what, right? Matters not. :)
