For those who believe in unconditional love. Is that only for those who treat you like crap?

Or could treat anyone like crap whom you love and harm them egregiously and your unconditional love would be steadfast and true all the way through regardless? What excuses would you make for them for the terrible harm they did to your loved ones or would you not need any excuses? What would your damaged loved ones think of you for still loving those who hurt them? I'm clearly having a difficult time understanding what Unconditional Love requires and so of course worst-case scenarios come to mind. Or is your unconditional love in theory only/figurative and in practice it can literally be conditional?

    That is unconditional love.  It is your love for YOU not them.


    Hang on, it explains everything.  It may explain why you are so attached to some opinion about how to deal with it.  It has nothing to do with anything but letting go and not letting anyone bug YOU.  It is surrender to the fact that you don't run things.  You never did.  You never will and you don't have to have any opinion but to be the person that GOD sees and be the person who GOD would be if he were in YOUR body.

    That is your job.  It is very freeing.  It beats ulcers.

    It takes practice, that is why we are on Earth for so long. 

    That is why we have to come back for do-overs. None of us seems to catch on very quickly.

    The only "unconditional love" I've ever seen has been from dogs.

    Even God doesn't have unconditional love.
    If He did, there wouldn't be Hell.

    OK Walt. You know that we have no problem saying what we think to each and we kinda sorta click. So I have no reason to "shine you on". I don't do that. I calls 'em as I sees 'em.  Honestly and truly you just said one of the most ASTUTE things I've ever heard which should be obvious to everyone but never ever occurred to me until YOU mentioned it! "Even God doesn't have unconditional love. If He did, there wouldn't be Hell". My gosh that's BRILLIANT. I don't know if it's yours alone or you read it somewhere but thanks for sharing it. In fact I'm gonna parlay that into a question for which I will give you indirect props. Geez you are one smart dude! :)
