Are we wrong/out of line to expect more intelligence/civility/manners from the US prez than we are capable of ourselves? WHY?

One of my criticisms of the president is retaliatory mode that he goes into. His adversaries are not going to stop baying and howling like wolves or screeching like banshees. Moving down to their level isn't proving to be beneficial. The president's detractors aren't winning any prizes for decorum and civility either. At least our side isn't calling people out in public places like it's Dodge City or something. He needs to throw all the electronic devices within his reach into the Potomac River and use the more conventional venues of getting the message out. Be the president, do the job and keep the trap shut even if milk and honey starts to flow. President Trump doesnt care about what people think about his personality, he is too busy fixing the messes previous presidents have put our country in. Actions speak louder than words.
