A pol sez the EAGLE that used to represent pre-don United States has been replaced by the OSTRICH. True/faux/don't know?

Of course the EAGLE soars and the ostrich is such a scairdy cat wimp it buries its head in the sand and pretends everything is okey dokey. Coward. Chicken. Yellowbelly. Sad.

Contrary to the popular myth, ostriches do not bury their heads in the sand! When an ostrich senses danger and cannot run away, it flops to the ground and remains still, with its head and neck flat on the ground in front of it. Because the head and neck are lightly colored, they blend in with the color of the soil.

A lot of people have that misconception about ostriches. It does look like they are burying their heads. :)

I personally would not want to get into a fight with an ostrich.  An ostrich can kill an lion with one kick.

But we will keep the beautiful eagle as our symbol regardless of what some pol says. This post was edited by my2cents at August 23, 2018 7:58 PM MDT

Ostriches are mean buggers and boy can they run!  If you piss off an ostrich (which is easy to do) you can NEVER outrun it!!  Most are taller than the average person and they can kill  a person with their powerful kicks.  They don't bury their heads in the sand (that's a myth).  But, then again, they aren't grandly intelligent creatures.

I've seen several bald eagles in my lifetime (usually I'm high on a mountain top and they're flying below).  Seeing that is much more awe inspiring than seeing a gangly ostrich.  Don't get me wrong, eagles are mean buggers too.  View from afar!!

Might I suggest the peafowl instead?

Peafowl? Oy vey! I'm gonna look it up Shuhak. I never heard of it. Here I go. OH! PEACOCK! I didn't know that's also a peafowl! Didja know my mom ALWAYS had a slim vase with PEACOCK feathers in it when I was growing up? I think peacock is to animal what the Aurora Borealis is to the sky. I like that. I'm gonna ask. I would have said UNICORN but they exist only in fastasy. I'm picking what you picked m'dear. I'm riding your coattails. D'ya mind? Thank you  for your reply! :)

A peacock is a male peafowl.

Peacock feathers are beautiful.  We never had any as my mother had severs allergies (to everything, or so it seemed).
Just down the road from here peafowl run wild and are considered an annoyance.
