  • We have a system in place that is designed to survive the best and worst in us and among us. It's not perfect, but we had enlightened founders that did a pretty good job of creating a representative form of government. Here's the fly in the ointment. If we keep tampering, tinkering and trying to re-invent the wheel, we're going to make a mess of it all. Improvement is one thing, throwing the baby out with the wash water is something else.

I mostly agree with thee. One ENORMOUS HUGE BIGLY CAVEAT. The Founding Fathers could not have envisioned a paralyzed immobilized lobotomized pretzelized intimidated scairdy cat wimpy Congress. A do nothing see nothing hear nothing say nothing group of frightened spineless toady sycophants. No one could. So our 3-legged system of checks and balances is broken. The only sturdy leg is the Executive Branch. The Legislative is silenced and impotent courtesy of the Exec. The Judicial is under constant attack. I don't know if you agree with me but that is precisely how I see it. The monstrous evil behemoth presence in the Executive branch crushes all, destroys all, silences all, intimidates all. So far so good. For him and his  doting worshippers. Not so good for the rest of us or for the world. SIGH. Thank you for your reply DA.

I agree, Rosie.  I'm just concerned about the breadth of potential damage this administration will foist upon us and how long it will take the succeeding administration(s) to rectify it.

We may be past repair m'dear. I fear that is true since despite everything we know it is still going on. It may not end until there is nothing left of us but dust. I trust and hope and pray I'm wrong. Thank you for your reply L! :)

I hope you're wrong.  What I see as the reason you may be right is that people in our country have turned against one another and that is worse than anything a president can do in his term of office.

I see it in a different way sweetie. What the guy in the White House has done was make it a good thing to be a RACIST. So all the existing RACISTS of whom there were always a surprisingly high number  crawled out of the woodwork where they had been biding their time just waiting for a guy like him to show up. He has made it OK to hate. He hates just great. He has many admirers who appreciate his not only embracing them for what they are but encouraging them to keep doing it bigly consistently endlessly incessantly. He does his part by holding rallies all over the country where what he dispenses is HATE!! Everywhere he goes he represents HATE. His real slogan is "Make America Hate Again" and  by golly it's working! White racist. White hater. White wackadoodle! Triple threat prez! Thank you for your reply. SIGH. I agree that people are feeling more inclined to speak their mind, even it it's racist and for the same reasons you set out.  Trump has given his stamp of approval for those who kept it under their hat to say and do whatever they want.  That is really what I meant by turning against one another.  There has always been, and will likely always be, racism, but much of it has been kept on the down low.  Now, it's OK to come out of the closet so to speak.

More than OK. It is encouraged facilitated enabled cheered! A riotous raucous racist underbelly of society has finally made it to the top of the heap! Just like the nouveau riche being accepted by old money. A glorious time for them!. SIGH. An abomination for the rest of us. Thank you for your reply L! :)
