One thing John McCain and Aretha Franklin had in common was that they loved so many people and were loved by so many people. Why is that?

Another thing. They both designed their funerals. They had the time and were very specific about the music played, the attendees and the speakers. The last request was honored for Aretha in Detroit, Michigan(my hometown is Highland Park, Michigan, a Detroit suburb) on Friday, August 31, 2018. Today is the final ceremony for and celebration of John McCain. Saturday, September 1, 2018 in Washington, D.C..  May they RIP.

I know why Aretha Franklin was loved, she had a fabulous voice. As for John McCain, not much to love about a war criminal.

John McCain? I can only speak of the man who lived all those years ago as a POW and not the man that lived and worked as an Arizona senator. As a senator, he was as corrupt as the rest of the U.S government. Nothing to be proud of in my opinion. As for Aretha Franklin. Nothing needs to be said about the contributions she has made during her career. The nicest person anyone could ever meet. This post was edited by Zack at September 10, 2018 12:34 PM MDT

Really? NOTHING? How about the time that old lady said President Obama was a Muslim at one of the McCain Rallies? He said "no m'am. He is a good family man. We just differ in our politics" or something very close to that. THEN most recently as he lay dying he planned his funeral. Whom he wanted to be there whom he banned what the music would be and who would speak. He SPECIFICALLY  REQUESTED that President Obama be one of those who gave a eulogy. President Obama said that it was John's ultimate revenge to force Obama and George W. Bush to say nice things about him! We KNOW it was so much more than that. It was McCain's final attempt to point out that cooperation and compromise and reaching across the aisle to deal with the opposition was a good thing to do. You don't remember that or you were not impressed by that? I was. No one sez McCain was a perfect man, himself included. But you should give credit where credit is due shouldn't you Zack? Who takes his place in the Senate? Who stands up to monsterboy and tells the truth? No one that's who. I'm a Progressive Liberal Democrat as you undoubtedly know. He had good friends (Biden for one) who were just like me. They saw that in him but you didn't. I do not know why nor is it my job to convince you otherwise. You called it like it is for you. I did the same. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday! :)
